Funny Dog Picture – Australian Shepherds

Posted in Funny Dog Picture

A pair of Australian Shepherds stand head down in the ocean surf searching for a lost stick in this funny dog picture. The two Aussies had been playing with a giant stick in and out of the water when one of them dropped it, and despite being made of wood, it sank out of sight, much to the dismay of the playmates. We think this fun dog picture captures the magic of playing in the natural world with your dog. There are more pictures of these two at our photographer’s site linked below or by clicking the picture. You can also get linking code there too. Dog Picture – Australian Shepherd

Posted in Dog Pictures

An Australian Shepherd is captured as it leaps into the air in hot pursuit of a bright red tennis ball on a sunset-bathed beach at Rincon, California, September, 2008. This beautiful Aussie is a young female called Charlie. She had one striking blue eye and a balanced, almost classic conformation, though we are not expert enough to know if she fits the Australian Shepherd breed standard. By classic we mean timeless beauty. There was much to admire in her athleticism, keen interest in all around her and obvious intelligence. She was clearly also a much loved and happy girl. We think this dog picture captures the magic of playing in the natural world with your dog. See more pictures of Charlie by clicking her picture. Dog Picture – Herding Dog Demo Leads Benefit For DAWG In Carpinteria

Posted in Dog Pictures

Photos by PupandHorse.com The theme was working dogs but the job at paw was dog rescue during the fundraiser held for Santa Barbara, California-based Dog Adoption Welfare Group, at a Carpinteria ranch on August 9, 2008. The sun shone and music played as the event began at a beautiful hillside home with views of the Pacific Ocean. After the welcoming remarks and some relaxing conversation, the canine performances began. The kick-off demonstration was impressive not simply as it was multi-dog and breed, it was also multi-species. SoCal Herding‘s Ted Thompson Ondrak provided an exciting look into the art and science of teaching the basics to herding dogs. His cast included his own two black and white Border Collies, Drew and Bree, as well as four sheep he described as pets that live their entire lives with him. Additional assistance...

Dog Picture: Splash Dog – Dock Diving Dogs

Posted in Dog Pictures

Photos by PupandHorse.com With Summer well underway we thought it would be nice to share some fun pictures of dock diving dogs getting wet and wild. The pictures were taken at the 2007 Pet Expo Splash Dog Demonstration in Orange County, California. What is splash dog? A very simple description is that it’s a distance jumping competition. Handlers prep or stage their dogs on either a real dock or, as with these pictures, an on-land man-made contraption with a large pool at the end. Farther is better – it’s all about the jump. Some competitors use classic retriever dummies to throw for their dogs. I’ve also seen more toy-like items thrown. Not surprisingly the retriever breeds are popular, like the Yellow Labrador Retriever shown here, but so are other breeds you’d find in dog athletic events like flying disc...
