DogExplorer.com News – NFL star quarterback Michael Vick’s lawyer has issued a statement saying “I announce today that he (Vick) has reached an agreement with federal prosecutors regarding the charges pending against him, ” defense attorney Billy Martin stated. “Mr. Vick has agreed to enter a plea of guilty to those charges and accept full responsibility for his actions and the mistakes he has made” Vick’s co-defendants have all plead guilty and signed statements implicating Vick in dog fight activities, as well as acts of cruelty in the deaths of unsuccessful dogs owned by Vick’s dogfighting enterprise. Dog Attack At Ving Rhames Home Alleged

DogExplorer.com News – It appears there was a fatal dog attack on a man working for actor Ving Rhames, according to statements issued by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Early Friday morning, August 3, 2007, an unidentified party called the LAPD to report a body found at the actor’s Brentwood, California, home. The victim may have been responsible for caring for the dogs and thus been known to them. The LAPD statements indicate that the dogs were mastiffs, but which variety of mastiff is unclear. Actor Rhames was quoted in an earlier Time magazine article stating that he had eight Fila Brasileiro mastiffs, which may provide some clue. Charges were brought in Virginia against Vick and several co-defendants on July 17, 2007. All four at first plead not guilty of conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal-fighting venture. One defendant, Tony Taylor, changed his plea to guilty and filed documents with the court alleging Michael Vick played the dominant role in financing the alleged dog fighting enterprise. Endorsement or merchandising deals between Vick and sponsors Nike, Rawlings and Reebok have all been suspended or canceled pending the outcome of the trial.
