Oregon dog lovers near Medford should mark their calendars for an event to raise funds for Dogs For The Deaf, a non-profit that rescues dogs and trains canines as service dogs for clients with autism, hearing loss and others with special needs.
According to their Facebook fan page, Dogs For The Deaf rescues dogs from throughout Oregon, Washington and California. They also place dogs with applicants needing assistance dogs across the United States and Canada, completely free.
The 2011 Dog Walk takes place at Hawthorne Park, Medford, Oregon, Saturday, June 4, 2011, from 8:30 am through 1:30 pm. It features a theme of the Roaring Twenties.
Dogs For The Deaf says the 2011 Dog Walk benefit will feature KRWQ’s Judi Austin & Larry Neal, agility course demonstrations, a kids’ zone, continental breakfast and hot dog lunch, thousands of dollars in prizes, a raffle, silent auction, Doxie Dash races and much more.
The organization is a 501(c)(3) non profit that was founded in 1977 by Roy Kabat, a Hollywood animal trainer with credits that include Dr. Doolittle and Born Free, says their website. Their mission is Rescuing and professionally training dogs to assist people and enhance their lives, maintaining a lifelong commitment to all dogs we rescue and all teams we serve. That sounds pretty worthwhile to DogExplorer.
