Wednesday, August 23, 2006 – www.DogExplorer.com – Breaking News: Local broadcast news media is televising a raid of the Noah’s Ark Animal Rescue in Long Beach, California. A reporter stated that police were drawn to the facility while in the area on an unrelated matter due to the strong smell of urine.

According to the reporter, on entry the police found conditions meeting the legal definition of animal cruelty and arrested Alexiea Kyrklund as a responsible party. Video footage showed seizure of all animals at Noah’s Ark. One person interviewed (relationship to Noah’s Ark unclear at this time) spoke in defense of Noah’s Ark saying they specialized in sick, elderly and tough to adopt cases.

Indeed, a visit to the Noah’s Ark website shows an organization focusing on animals in very difficult circumstances that government-run shelters and rescues could well pass on.

According to the website: “Noah’s Ark is a all volunteer run non profit rescue with a no kill policy. We have been around since 1994 and became a 501(3)c in 1999. Noah’s Ark has a history of working primarily with the special needs- injured or elderly pets, and is one of the few rescues that will also save the sick pets that many will pass by or choose to euthanize.”
