DogExplorer.com News – The pot of legal and financial troubles stemming from allegations and charges of dogfighting continue to boil for NFL player Michael Vick, an Atlanta Falcons’ quarterback.
Charges were brought in Virginia against Vick and several co-defendants on July 17, 2007. All four at first plead not guilty of conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal-fighting venture.
One defendant, Tony Taylor, changed his plea to guilty and filed documents with the court alleging Michael Vick played the dominant role in financing the alleged dog fighting enterprise.
Endorsement or merchandising deals between Vick and sponsors Nike, Rawlings and Reebok have all been suspended or canceled pending the outcome of the trial.
Earlier NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell ordered that Michael Vick not attend the Atlanta Falcons’ training camp pending a league review of the matter.
