Have dog, will travel. The days of having to put your precious cargo in, well, cargo, might be over. That is, if your airline allows it and your pet meets the requirements.

Each air carrier has different policies so be certain to ask them when making air travel arrangements. Depending on the airline, this might mean your pet is either very small, a service animal, or in the case of US Airways, the animal must be “harmless, inoffensive, odorless and require no attention during the flight,” or so says a story from the Associated Press. In addition, there is often a fee associated with pet travel.

According to the AP, Sherpa’s Pet Trading Company publishes a list on their website with the pet policies of over 100 airlines.
