Golden Retriever Puppy Picture

Posted in Dog Pictures

A pair of Golden Retriever puppies play at the Arroyo Verde Dog Park in Ventura, California. In the lead is a beautiful 8 month old Golden Retriever male. Close behind is a much younger Golden Retriever puppy only weeks old. Golden Retrievers are always very popular dogs. The American Kennel Club (AKC) says they are one of the most popular breeds they register. In 2009 they were ranked number four in total registrations behind Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherd Dogs and Yorkshire Terriers. They held the same rank in 2008 but were number two in 2004 and 1999. Generally considered an intelligent breed with a desire to please, anyone who has met a large sampling of Golden Retrievers can tell you that, like any breed, there are also a few examples that seem to fit the stereotype term “dumb blond.”...

Clumber Spaniel Picture

A handsome Clumber Spaniel dog ambles along at the Arroyo Verde Dog Park in Ventura, Californa, on a cool, crisp November morning. The American Kennel Club (AKC) says the Clumber Spaniel is one of the original nine breeds they registered. While not as tall or quick as other spaniel breeds, the Clumber is known for its endurance and ability to do its sporting dog job all day long. It seems the majority of folks think the Clumber Spaniel originated in France during the eighteenth century and derived from the Alpine Spaniel and perhaps the Basset Hound. Make no mistake about it, the Clumber is in every sense a sporting dog despite its regal bearing. Photo by PupandHorse.com That quiet dignity allows the Clumber to hunt in deep cover and approach the game quite close. The AKC says the Clumber...

Vizsla Funny Dog Picture

A young Vizsla dog is pictured in early morning light as water droplets and drool fall from its mouth after drinking some water in a dog park… a pretty funny dog picture. The American Kennel Club (AKC) says the Vizsla originally came from Hungary and while it is in many respects a pointer, they in fact combine elements of the pointer and retriever type dogs. Photo by PupandHorse.com The AKC goes on to say Vizsla were a favorite of early Hungarian Barons and that the golden rust colored dogs have been seen in etchings going back to the 10th century. Splash Dogs Size Does Not Matter – Hotrod The Dachshund

Posted in Dog Pictures

The Splash Dogs were in Irvine, California, over the weekend, taking part in the first ever Pet-A-Palooza event. Among the splash dog pack were the likes of tiny in size but big in spirit Hotrod, a cute dock diving Doxie. From the competition we viewed on Saturday, 16 October, 2010, Hotrod was the smallest dog in the water. While he did not jump very far he did seem to be having a great time. Dog Photography by PupandHorse.com Unsurprisingly Labrador Retrievers were well represented along with a few examples of Shepherd breeds, a Golden retriever, Australian Shepherd, Border Collie, Pit Bulls and some mixed breed mutts if I heard correctly. Click the picture of Hotrod to see the rest of our Splash Dog pictures and please also upload your own, we’d love to see them. You can discuss the...
