Pooch Parade 2011 Returns To Ventura July 24

Ventura will once again host the popular dog rescue benefit known as the Pooch Parade. Taking place July 24, 2011, this year’s event marks the fourteenth anniversary of the fundraiser for local non-profit Canine Adoption & Rescue League (CARL). Held at San Buenaventura State Beach Park, the hours are 9:00 am through 4:00 pm with activities scheduled throughout the day. This year’s theme is “Prevent A Litter – Fix Your Critter.” Billed as a “Fundraising Dog Walk & Pet Expo,” the Pooch Parade begins each year with a three mile stroll for people and pooches along the picturesque Ventura coastline by participants who, in the same style as other charitable “walks,” have gathered pledges for donations. Oregon Service Dog Non-Profit Rescue Holds 20th Annual Fundraiser

Oregon dog lovers near Medford should mark their calendars for an event to raise funds for Dogs For The Deaf, a non-profit that rescues dogs and trains canines as service dogs for clients with autism, hearing loss and others with special needs. According to their Facebook fan page, Dogs For The Deaf rescues dogs from throughout Oregon, Washington and California. They also place dogs with applicants needing assistance dogs across the United States and Canada, completely free. The 2011 Dog Walk takes place at Hawthorne Park, Medford, Oregon, Saturday, June 4, 2011, from 8:30 am through 1:30 pm. It features a theme of the Roaring Twenties. Help ASPCA Save Pets In Joplin Missouri

In the wake of the devastating tornado in Joplin, Missouri, dogs, cats and countless other pets have been injured or separated from their owners. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) says they are in position and helping to arrange food, shelter and reunions between the animals and their owners. You can help them assist the animals hurt by the Joplin tornado as you’ll see in a moment. The Need According to a statement issued by the ASPCA, many of the dogs and cats rescued so far are suffering from lacerations, broken bones and eye injuries that appear to have been caused by the storm. In a press statement issued on December 18, 2010, Kroger said it has issued a recall on some Kroger pet food sold in some of its retail stores because the products may contain aflatoxin, which poses a health risk to pets. After his conviction on dogfighting charges he was barred from having a dog until, at the very least, his probation was complete. While we at DogExplorer.com have a belief in rehabilitation, there are circumstances such as the Michael Vick case where the demonstrated lack of decision making; of knowing right from wrong; the absence of compassion and care for the well being and prevention of suffering of others, overrides our hope for Vick’s rehabilitation.
