Meet Shania – Labrador Retriever Rescue Picture

Say hello to Shania, a sweet, beautiful Labrador Retriever puppy rescued by the amazing folks at Southern California Labrador Retriever Rescue (SCLRR). Note please the satellite dish around her head and the scary scar on her leg. At the time this picture was taken this little girl was just a few days past major surgery on her leg to correct a condition that nearly cost her life. Only 8 months old or so, Shania began to limp and show serious signs of leg pain and weakness. The veterinarian informed the prior owner that both rear legs required surgery to correct a luxating patella. This is a condition Ansel, the inspiration for DogExplorer, also suffered. He too had this surgery. The bill for Shania? The estimate was some $8,000 which was beyond the means of her prior owners. They asked...

Dog fanciers, mark your calendar because the 2011 Summerfest All Breed Dog Show is back in Ventura, July 7th through the 10th. The big annual event is held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. While parking in the Fairground lot requires payment, admission to the event is free. What’s to do and see at Summerfest 2011? Lots.
